About Us
The mission of Amuze Art is to create detailed biographies, catalogues raisonnés, and books about lesser-known artists who are not (yet) well represented in museums around the world. Many great artists over time created their works primarily for private collectors. Their paintings have scattered around the world and are primarily seen at public auctions. Therefore, relatively little is known about these artists and their work, and at Amuze Art, we love to change that.
We started on social media, under the handle @tripimprover, to share and explain historical artworks (and you can still find us with daily posts on Instagram and Facebook). As our presence quickly grew into hundreds of thousands of followers, we learned that many relatively unknown artists and artworks strongly appeal to today’s audience. However, very little is known about many of these artists today because their presence in museums is limited, and no detailed accounts have been created discussing their life and work. So, Amuze Art has made it their mission to bring these amazing artists back into the limelight and provide a global audience with detailed biographies and overviews of their oeuvre.
We tailor our content to three types of audiences.
- The art enthusiast: They can enjoy the life and work of some of their favorite artists through one of the coffee-table-style books that we have created and are available throughout the world.
- The collector: If you are interested in a work, or own a work, by one of the artists that we are interested in, it can be rewarding/valuable to learn more about the specific artwork and how the artwork fits within the oeuvre of the artist. We offer detailed biographies online that are constantly updated over time, a complete overview of all their known works, and genealogical family trees, such that you can learn all there is to know about an artist.
In addition, you can contact us for an evaluation of your artwork, whether you want to get our expert opinion on whether the work can safely be attributed to a specific artist, or to get an estimate of the value of your artwork. And if the artwork is not yet part of the artist’s catalogue raisonné and our experts agree on its authenticity, your artwork can be added to their catalogue raisonné. - Auctioneers and museums: When putting an artwork up for an exhibition or sale, detailed information about the artwork and artist helps to inform potential visitors and buyers. Whether you want to put an artwork into the context of the artist’s oeuvre, need help dating the artwork, or provide background information about how an artwork came about, we can offer our professional advice, which you can share with (potential) clients.
So, whether you want to learn more about some of your favorite artists and artworks or you need professional advice, Amuze Art loves to discover and share the stories of some spectacular artists from history.
